Qualifications
There are almost 40,000 attorneys in the State of Michigan. A small number (approximately 300, as of this writing), have a certificate in Family Law, from the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. There are another 150 who are actively pursuing a certificate. This means that Mr. Pinsky went to school for two years, taking seminars, receiving intensive training in family law. He has been an attorney since 1974.

Adantages in Filing First
The advantage in filing first is that you can ask the Warren MI Court, with a piece of paper, to grant certain things. This is less expensive than making a motion and having two attorneys appear in Warren MI Court. Also, “ex-parte” means without the other party arguing against the order. Often, Warren MI attorneys ask for ex-parte orders that keep the status quo. That is, the Plaintiff would be asking the Court to order the Defendant to continue paying the mortgage payment as that party had done in the past.
Sometimes you can request an ex-parte order so that the assets in the marital estate are not wasted.
